MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE

For more than 60 years, across the UK,  Marie Curie Cancer Care had been caring for people affected by cancer and their families. They provide high quality nursing, totally free of charge, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families.

So for those patients who would like to be cared for at home, Mari Curie Nursing Service plays a vital role. Their nurses work through the day and night, usually for eight or nine hours at a time, to care for the patient and to allow the family to get some well-earned rest.

In addition to providing this highly valued nursing care for the patient, they are also there to give emotional support and advice to the family.

Of course, not everybody can or wants to be cared for at home and that's why Marie Curie Cancer Care provides hospices throughout the UK. All care in their 10 hospices is totally free. Their hospices also offer day care facilities and home care visites so patients can continue living at home, with their families, for as long as they are able.

In addition to caring for patients and their families, the charity is also researching the disease on two fronts. One research team is looking at ways of improving quality of life for todays patients and at the same time, scientists are looking at the causes and treatments of cancer.

Marie Curie Cancer Care survives thanks to the generosity of the public and grants from the NHS.
